How we list & verify firms
We list car rental firms from their own public information. A firm gets the green Verified badge when it sends GhanaCarHire copies of three documents and we check them: its business registration certificate, the owner’s Ghana Card or passport, and its vehicle insurance. That is the whole check.
How we list firms
Listing is free. A listing starts from the firm’s own public information: its website, its Google Business profile or its own social pages. We record where each detail came from and when we checked it, and the sources are shown on the listing. We don’t invent prices, reviews or fleets. Firms can claim their listing to correct it and add their own photos and prices. Anyone can ask for a correction or removal through our contact page. Read our editorial policy.
The three documents we check
- Business registration certificate. The firm’s ORC registration or business name certificate.
- The owner’s Ghana Card or passport. A passport is accepted when the owner isn’t Ghanaian.
- Vehicle insurance. A copy of the insurance for the firm’s vehicles.
Firms upload copies of these documents from their GhanaCarHire dashboard. The copies are kept private and are not shown on the listing.
What we do not check
- No fleet photos are required for verification.
- No field visits or vehicle inspections.
- No DVLA checks.
- No location checks.
Photos, prices, services and areas on a listing come from the firm itself or from its own public pages. They are not part of verification.
What the labels mean
- Verified (green badge): copies of the three documents were checked. Valid for one year.
- Featured (gold badge): a paid top placement, shown together with the green Verified badge.
- Unverified: the firm has claimed its listing but has not completed the check.
- Unclaimed: the listing was compiled from the firm’s public information and the firm hasn’t claimed it yet.
Before you pay
Verified is not a guarantee. Agree the car, dates, price and deposit in writing, and pay only into an account in the firm’s business name. Our guide to avoiding car hire scams in Ghana has a short checklist. If something goes wrong, use the “Report a scam” button on the listing or contact us.
For firms
Claim your listing, then apply for verification from your dashboard. Plans and fees are on plans and pricing.
Questions
Does GhanaCarHire inspect the cars or visit the firm?
No. We do not inspect vehicles, ask for fleet photos, make field visits or check locations. Verification is a check of copies of three documents only.
Does GhanaCarHire check DVLA vehicle records?
No. We do not run DVLA checks. Ask the firm for the vehicle’s documents when you collect the car.
Is a Verified firm guaranteed?
No. Verified means the three documents were provided and checked. It is not a guarantee of the service, the cars or the price. Agree everything in writing and pay deposits only into an account in the firm’s business name.
How long does Verified last?
One year. We re-check sooner if we receive a complaint about the firm.
